Following their highly anticipated debut collaboration in 2019, German fashion house MCM and rebel Japanese streetwear brand *A BATHING APE® (BAPE®) have come together for their next capsule collection for Spring/Summer 2024. The powerhouse brands have reunited to not only redefine the aesthetics and overall attitude of luxury streetwear – but to also give longtime followers of the two labels an ode to their historical, and iconic, past decades. Both brands, having been intertwined in music and pop culture spanning the better part of the 70s, 80s, and 90s, the latest collection will be an ultimate celebration of The Year of the Dragon for the Lunar Year.

This capsule is summarized with a fearless play on patterns, lively graphic applications, as well as the shark motif BAPE® has become notorious for, paired with MCM’s hallmark Visetos. The infamous BAPE® logo shines as the centerpiece of the collaboration, immersed with a golden dragon that stands as a stark symbolization of the unwavering and unapologetic confidence and style in the new year. 

Both brands boast respective stand-out pieces that are synonymous with their identity. MCM for the logo-embellished bags and luggage that jetsetters paraded throughout the 70’s and 80’s, and BAPE® for the genre-defining apparel that served as a direct product of the youthful spirit of the 90’s indulgent culture. The featured items pay homage to the brands roots, as consumers can shop the Shark Hoodie, designed in Black & Cognac Visetos, covered in the collaboration logo emblazoned over the monogram. The hoodie also contains the quintessential BAPE® shark motif, woven over the hood’s exterior.
