As the style pendulum swings away from chunky ‘80s dad-inspired sneakers in favor of low-profile silhouettes, PUMA’s Speedcat has emerged in the timeliest of manners. First introduced as a motorsport shoe, the Speedcat features a streamlined suede upper and PUMA’s signature Formstrip on either side. The brand’s flagship model has since been reimagined in ballet flat and wedge sneaker form, cementing the Speedcat as a versatile shoe staple. 

This week, PUMA  releases the latest iteration of the Speedcat, in collaboration with BLACKPINK’s Rosé. The special-edition shoe juxtaposes soft suede with a glossy Formstrip and eyestays. The details are embossed with a crocodile skin texture, creating an understated yet elevated finish. Available in black, chestnut, and off-white colorways, the Speedcat Croc is a polished choice to step into fall with.

The “APT.” singer styles her Speedcats with a pair of thick, ribbed legwarmers and a track skirt set, a contemporary take on PUMA’s sportswear heritage. PUMA has a long-standing legacy in motorsports – the brand has dressed a number of Formula 1 racers, including previous World Record holder Stefan Belloff – that they carry into their contemporary designs. The 1999 Speedcat OG reimagines the brand’s fireproof racing boots for everyday wear, a move that shaped the brand’s beginnings as a fixture of street style. Rosé, who has served as a global brand ambassador since 2024 alongside Rihanna, Dua Lipa, and A$AP Rocky, continues to reinforce PUMA’s stronghold on sportstyle.
