Louis Vuitton’s new Express Bag melds adventure and practicality into one beautifully soft and flexible new leather and velvet handbag. Inspired by the ongoing rise of transportation—and those fleeting moments in between where strangers and lovers alike cross paths—the Express bag symbolizes Louis Vuitton’s rich heritage for travel, and exists as the latest masterpiece by Nicolas Ghesquière, who’s served as the women’s creative director of the fashion house since 2013.
Available in three sizes and five different colorways—black, hazelnut, mahogany and taupe, plus one stunning two-tone ivory and blue variation—the Express bag carefully suggests themes of both the sophisticated functionality and high-class femininity that Louis Vuitton is most known for. Crafted from delicate calfskin and trimmed with Louis Vuitton’s signature monogram canvas, featuring monogram jacquard lining as well as elevated with gold-toned hardware—including a petite keybell and complimentary padlock—the double strap invites several methods of customization, making the bag versatile, adjustable and, ultimately, incredibly timeless.
A bow to Louis Vuitton’s iconic Keepall luggage line, Express was the original name of the brand’s 1930s Speedy, which, at the time, reflected the world’s innovative, faster means of travel—particularly with the advancement of commercial aviation. Now, continuing that sense of wonder in spaceflight, autonomous vehicles and beyond, the Express bag will be available for purchase in Louis Vuitton stores beginning August 1, and is available for pre-order online now.
