Celebrating the arrival of Maison Margiela’s Spring/Summer '26 collection, the brand has released short film, "Joy" to mark the occasion. Pairing fashion and music within a single creative medium, the film stars esteemed composer Max Richter and an orchestra of 43 young musicians from the Association Orchestre à l’École. The film's release coincides with the debut of the brand's Spring/Summer 2026 collection in stores and online.

The theme of the collection centers around a night at the opera, an energy reflected in the film’s depiction of joyful disruption. What starts as a traditional theater performance evolves into playful chaos, mirroring the collection’s blend of classic sophistication with spontaneity. The young musicians from the Association Orchestre à l’École slide down the aisles, fiddle with instruments, and climb onto the chairs as Richter performs, capturing the spirit of the collection, joyful chaos.

Filmed at the Théâtre de la Villette in Paris, the film and still imagery showcase Richter wearing multiple looks from the new collection – sharp lines and tailored silhouettes – while the children are purposefully adorned in oversized white suits, many of whom took part in the runway show. Additionally, in the still images, the brand also highlights this season’s new Heel-less shoe and Box Bag.

In “Joy,” Maison Margiela highlights the beauty of a shared artistic experience and the clothing we wear that witnesses it. The project creates a joyful and vibrant narrative around the Spring-Summer 2026 collection and frames clothing as a silent participant in moments of collective creation.
