Mishaps are a part of life, but Diesel’s SS26 campaign reminds us that no matter what absurdities we face, we must meet the moment with a grin. Titled “SMILE THROUGH IT,” the latest visual collaboration between Diesel’s creative director, Glenn Martens, and art director, Christopher Simmonds, explores the fragile balance between calm and chaos, demonstrating how human resilience can overcome adversity.

Photographed by Mark Peckmezian, the models are captured in an uncanny and satrical visual narrative. Amidst AI-generated disastrous scenarios, couples and friends are shown beaming with joyful smiles despite the chaos, highlighting that optimism is essential.

Although faced with common daily inconveniences—a shattered phone screen or a flooded kitchen, models exude a gleeful demeanor in their Diesel SS26 attire. Branded denim, wrapped jersey T-shirts, and tanks are paired with racer jackets, x-ray bleached denim, and deconstructed biker trousers. Purposeful crackled leather cocoon-sleeved jackets and double-layer twister pieces create an illusion silhouette, where inner layers are larger than their outer counterparts. Models are accessories with the D-DIAM SA 90 printed peep-toe mules, D-MATHIEU lug sole Chelsea boots, printed leather 1DR shoulder bags, the Stinger watch, and Alien-inspired jewelry, all of which serve as obvious essentials for a crisis.

“You’re never fully dressed without a smile,” is Diesel’s reminder to embrace a renewed perspective on positivity and the realities of life. Peckmezian’s still images encourage viewers to find joy even in the most frustrating of predicaments and to smile through them.
