Swiss luxury watch brand OMEGA has launched the world’s first two-handed watch to receive the Master Chronometer certification. The Constellation Observatory Collection—a breakthrough for the Swiss maison and the watch industry—is made possible by a new acoustic testing method developed at the Laboratoire de Précision, which is now certified by METAS and accredited by SAS as a laboratory for chronometer testing.

OMEGA’s new method uses sound analysis and hand tracking to monitor accuracy, temperature, position, and performance over a 25-day testing period. Traditionally, Master Chronometer certification required three hands; these new testing methods result in a watch that meets strict requirements with a minimalist design.

The collection—featuring nine references in both precious metals and O-MEGASTEEL—includes a 39.4 mm case and designs that pay homage to earlier models. Inspired by the 1948 Centenary, the collection presents the pie-pan dial introduced in 1952, paired with the Constellation star and an observatory medallion on the caseback. The textured guilloché finish on the facets dates back to 1953, and a brick pattern on an 18K Moonshine™ Gold mesh bracelet references the elegance of the period.

Additionally, the collection features two new calibres: 8915 and 8914. Presented in three categories, Calibre 8915 appears in the Grand Luxe and Luxe editions, showcasing opulent finishes and medallions in gold and platinum-gold models. Calibre 8914 powers the Standard edition of the O-MEGASTEEL variants and features a refined rhodium-plated finish.

From the 1948 Centenary to today’s Constellation Observatory Collection, OMEGA has continued the tradition of providing chronometer-certified timepieces. The collection cements the iconic Swiss brand’s reputation for innovation—proving that even with just two hands, precision can reach new levels.
