Born from a ceaseless quest for lightness, increased performance, and French elegance, Lacoste and Alpine unveiled their design for an Alpine Lacoste A290 Rallye racecar and an accompanying capsule collection. The French powerhouses draw inspiration from their founders, René Lacoste and Jean Rédélé, and continue to push the boundaries of their respective fields, blending engineered performance and functionality with transcendent style. 

As part of their collaboration, Alpine engineered a “Beware of the Crocodile” model of their electric rally car, the A290 Rallye. The vehicle is featured in the collaboration’s promotional film, “Le Test" by Ninety Films, which stars Lacoste ambassadors Pierre Niney and Pierre Gasly, who is also an Alpine Formula One driver. Here, playful spirit and humorous dialogue supplement the collaboration’s emphasis on increased mobility. 

Alpine utilizes their all-electric, customer-racing rally car to capture Lacoste’s shared vision of effortless movement and practicality. The French house’s automotive engineers achieve technical creativity and enhanced movement built for rallying through several of the vehicle’s characteristics, like bold wheels, a larger rear wing, and an especially powerful acceleration. Such qualities produce a lightweight, agile racecar complementing Lacoste’s decades-long sporty chic legacy on tennis courts. 

The “Beware of the Crocodile” edition of the A290 Rallye features a bluish-white exterior that mirrors an icy Alpine landscape, illustrating the unique breathability and freshness of both brands. Such freshness is contrasted, yet masterfully complemented, by the car’s pungent red interior, paying homage to the striking red tongue of the Lacoste crocodile. The monochromatic environment of the vehicle’s interior boldly excites driver senses and demonstrates the pursuit for purposeful action. Beyond technical advancements, masterful embroidery is reflected through Lacoste fabrics, which comprise the seats and door panels. 

Lacoste’s capsule collection further marks an emphasis on fluid movement through lightweight Polos, T-shirts, and accessories. Here, French elegance is not only ornamental, but purposeful, and the dialogue between both brands is evident. The small, yet impactful, collection is built for movement, demonstrating its use either on the court or on the racetrack.
