In a climate where tech imposes an omnipresent authority, Bottega Veneta’s Summer 2027 collection carries an undeniably organic quality. On Saturday, the Italian house unveiled 62 unisex looks that refused to conceal the touch of a human hand. 

Bottega Veneta’s latest collection submits to nature’s design. Linens and cottons supported breezy silhouettes that were accented with straw hats, lavender brooches, rope belts, and sun-bleached denim. Leather garments were shaved down to create a softer, draping effect rather than imposing structure onto the wearer. 

The brand’s signature Intrecciato (woven leather) purses were slung over models’ shoulders, but the motif wasn’t exclusive to accessories. The same effect was extended through other woven garments, like raffia, macramé, crochet, and fringe, reinterpreting the handicraft with season-appropriate materials.

Though the venue had an air of liminality, the space invited clothes to speak over it without undercutting the ethos of the show itself. Rather, Creative Director Louise Trotter injected nature into the details. Attendees were greeted with a sound sculpture by German artist Florian Hecker. Twenty suspended speakers each projected different sounds, creating an ephemeral, cloud-like composition overhead. Ukrainian-German Ilya Goldman Gubi constructed dozens of resin-coated Karton Hocker (cardboard stools) for the show, with each box crumpled by his embrace. Through his work, Gubi interrogates the body as a medium, welcoming imperfections and uniqueness in each sculpture. A single, handcrafted leather flower rested atop each seat, greeting guests including Audrey Hobert, Jorja Smith, King Krule, Tyler, The Creator, Solange Knowles, and Travis Scott, among others.
