You might recognize the name James Dean for his pioneering practice of method acting, or his considerable good looks, but today Bespoke Post honour his abiding influence on fashion in their latest collection. Although never his primary intention, James Dean became a blueprint for 1950s fashion through his effortlessly cool demanour that was reflected through his wardrobe. Dean’s life may have been tragically cut short, but Bespoke’s collection ensures his influence remains ever enduring.

The men’s lifestyle retailer partnered with the James Dean Estate to revive the legend’s personal and on-screen staples. The pieces draw from his only three acting roles – East of Eden (1955), Rebel Without a Cause (1955), and Giant (1956)—inherently different wardrobes that are equally iconic. Having debuted exclusively on BespokePost.com on September 18th, the brand's followers now eagerly await a second drop on October 9th. This 20-piece collection seamlessly blends apparel and accessories with an unmistakable American aesthetic, channeling Dean’s style into menswear that appeals to workmen, teenagers, and businessmen alike.

Operating across 2 tracks, the first collection is grounded in the archives, with design input from American brands whose artistry helped define 1950s fashion. Bespoke’s 1955 CHP Jacket is inspired by Schott NYC’s Perfecto leather motorcycle jacket, of which Dean was frequently spotted wearing whilst cruising the streets of Winslow, his hometown in Indianna.

Stetson, known for their classic American cowboys hats, took inspiration from Dean’s portrayal of a rebellious ranch hand in ‘Giant’ and revisited its past silhouttes to create the Wildcatter 6x model.
In contrast, the second track focusses on contemporary menswear, reimagining Dean’s signature pieces for the modern-day man. FieldWorth, one of Bespoke’s in-house labels, developed this collection alongside menswear designer Andrew Livingston and Bespoke Post’s design team. The collection’s standout garment is easily The Harrington Jacket– the distinct collared, red zip-up eternalised by Dean in Rebel Without a Cause.

Bespoke recruited a variety of specialists from across the industry, including Hollywood renowned stylist Mark Avery, to ensure the collection was historically accurate yet entirely unparalleled. Bespoke’s dedication to research and craftsmanship shines through the clothes and accessories themselves, which carry the same charm and charisma that enthroned James Dean back in the 1950s.
