Ringing in the summer season, Swiss holongerie house Audemars Piguet has recently debuted its latest Calibre 6401, an addition to the beloved Royal Oak Offshore collection featuring three 37mm Selfwinding Chronograph novelties. Technically advanced with both comfort and aesthetic in mind, this watch offers a reduced thickness and refined sapphire caseback, as well as a rhodium-toned 22-carat pink gold oscillating weight. The Royal Oak Offshore Selfwinding Chronograph introduces titanium to the pre-existing collection for the first time in two of its references, also offering a diamond-set-bezel and 18-carat gold as model options.

Piguet’s 37mm Royal Oak Offshore Selfwinding Chronograph was developed entirely in-house over five years, replacing the longstanding Calibre 2385 with an upgraded, reliable successor. The new Calibre 6401 delivers a 55-hour power reserve, beating at a frequency of 4 Hz. Its simplified architecture ensures accuracy and easeful play with the inclusions of a selfwinding integrated column wheel and a vertical clutch system. A sapphire caseback reveals its intricate movement, connecting the wearer and the timepiece deliberately. The Selfwinding Chronograph’s thoughtful finishings feature satin-brushed and polished surfaces, Côtes de Genève, and an NAC-coated 22-carat pink gold oscillating weight.

An artful design by Emmanuel Gueit, the newest Royal Oak Offshore design’s ambitious persona is brought to life through stylistic references to the 1980s, as well as a name inspired by high-performance yacht races. The chronograph arrives in three expressive color patterns evoking summer vibrance and warmth, further supported by precise mechanistic elements that balance accuracy and intuitive utility. The watch’s sporty, bold structure remains true to the prestigious lineage of the Royal Oak Offshore collection, first introduced in 1993 and certain to remain a cornerstone of luxury chronographs for many decades in the future.
