This year, the visionary French designer Andrée Putman, turns 100. Though she may no longer be here, her presence remains immortal. It lives on in the staircase of Le Bon Marché in Paris, at the Putman tower in Hong Kong or inside the French Ministry of Culture. And now, at the Musée des Arts Décoratifs. Putman’s studio is being revived by owner Aurélie Laure, guided jointly with Artistic Director Olivia Putman. To celebrate the centenary, the studio will engage in a year of milestone events and releases, beginning this December.

An immersive exhibition conceived by Theirry Dreyfus and Eyesight will offer an intimate and unprecedented immersion into Putman’s universe at the Hall des Maréchaux at the Musée des Arts Décoratifs. The ground floor will be covered with large scale projections and will feature the iconic sphere bathtub presented on newly crafted glass mosaic by Putman, produced by Bisazza. Upstairs, the checker-boarded floor will be covered with furniture reissues and highlights from her landmark projects, with more re-editions to come in 2026. The re-editions draw from over five decades of Putman’s work, made by French artisans out of new, durable materials–reflective of the studio's commitment to uphold timeless designs, while also evolving and adapting. The collection includes masterpieces like the Reflet cartésien mirror and the Correspondances desk. A grandiose staircase will morph into a Hall of Fame with portraits and period photographs from her archive. Finally, Café Andrée Putman will open as a salon for conversation gathering figures from the worlds of design and culture and highlighting Putman’s relationship with Christofle.

Putman’s ability to transform space and everyday objects into works of art is an important piece of her legacy that the women plan to both uphold and reimagine for the present audiences. “What continues to move me is the balance of rigor and poetry present in every project. This centenary allows us to share that world with a new generation and to continue the creative dialogue she began,” says Olivia Putman.

In addition to the show, the studio is to announce new collaborations and exclusive products, including forthcoming editions with leading French and international Houses, as well as explorations with contemporary artisans and design galleries. In January, a new Paris showroom will open, followed by a New York showroom in the spring. Laure and Putman are also planning to expand the studios' interior architecture practice, with upcoming hospitality projects.
When asked about what this new chapter means for the studio, Laure says it is both “a continuation and a renewal." She continues, "The studio took the time to pause, reorganize, and prepare for a fresh start. The centenary is a turning point. It allows us to present a clear direction that remains grounded in Andrée’s values while opening the way to new collaborations, new methods, and new ambitions.” For Olivia, “this chapter is about transmission. I want the history and depth of the studio to be fully understood so that it can approach new projects with confidence. Andrée always said that one must know where one comes from to know where one is going.”
