For the last half-century, the Saignelégier-based watchmaker Maurice Lacroix has delivered modern luxury coupled with urban slickness. The Maurice Lacroix 1975 Master Grand Date is the 26th iteration of its Masterpiece calibre timepieces and features a retrograde day indication, grand date and a skeletonized display normally hidden from the naked eye.

The 1975 Master Grand Date continues the Swiss maker’s legacy in creating its signature retrograde display. “For more than 25 years, we have created models equipped with retrograde indications, a rare complication in the watch industry but one that has become a signature of our brand,” says Stéphane Waser, Managing Director of Maurice Lacroix. “Skillfully crafted within our Manufacture in Saignelégier, this watch delivers accessible excellence, respects our legacy and provides an insight into our vision for the future.”

The undressed face is wrapped in a sapphire crystal box that absorbs plenty of light and ensures legibility of the elegant craftsmanship. Like the routine dawn and dusk in the big city, the retrograde display tracks the weekly expedition and cycles back to Monday at the end of every week. The underside delivers a sandblasted finish and rhodium coat to highlight the intricate layers of the piece. Its trait tirée bridges, flowing over the mainplate, add depth and character to the instrument, and serve as contrast to the simple, alligator-style black calf leather band strapped on either side.

The 1975 Master Grand Date will allow the wearer to effortlessly keep track of time in the bustling metropolis while revealing classic and premium Swiss craftsmanship to friends and passersby alike.
