“How can we put ourselves back together in the world we’re living in.” - Sarah Burton

Sarah Burton’s third runway presentation for Givenchy centers on this question, which also reflects the mood of the present moment. How can individuals, particularly women, rebuild and redefine themselves in a rapidly evolving world? Burton’s response is an exploration of modern female strength, expressed through clothing that balances formation with freedom. Precise tailoring, thoughtful cuts, and a strong sense of silhouette, Burton reshapes elements into something more fluid, allowing the collection to reflect both resilience and adaptability.

Visually, this Ready to Wear Fall/Winter 2026 collection references textures and sculptural forms reminiscent of Northern European Old Master paintings. Rich fabrics and dramatic shapes evoke that sense of artistry. Heavy duchesse satin capes cascade with quiet grandeur, while evening dresses appear torn and fragmented, their floral surfaces giving the impression of petals, alive and in perpetual motion. Headpieces designed by Stephen Jones further deepen this imagery. Crafted from twisted T-shirts wrapped around the head, the pieces transform an everyday object into striking visuals. This inventive design is a reminder that the most mundane of this world can be crafted into something beautiful, something singular.

Throughout the show, Givenchy showed a reflection of the many dimensions of women’s lives. Precise tailoring compliments sensual, free-flowing silhouettes, mirroring the balance between control and vulnerability that defines modern identity. The staging of the show and its diverse cast of models reinforce this message: fashion is not simply about appearance, but about the power of presenting one’s authentic self to the world. An authentic self that adapts, reacts, and evolves.
