As hot girl summer nears its end, it’s time to get cozy and make those sad girl autumn playlists. Indie pop artist Boh Doran might just be a name that ends up on your queue. Released today is Doran’s latest single Hurricane Eyes, a free spirited melody accompanied by subtle sounds of guitar strums. The tune delves into the emotional trajectory of confronting a ghost from the past that ultimately makes the Midwestern songstress “paralyzed with hurricane eyes.”
While there’s something comforting about the fall and its period of peaceful reflection, there is simultaneously an eerie essence in the air. ‘Hurricane Eyes’ is able to effortlessly capture this intangible sensation and also communicate the spiral of heartbreak reminiscence. Doran’s sonically subdued whispers laid into the track remind us of a love lost, but certainly for the better.
In essence, autumn evokes not only nostalgia, but rumination. Boh Doran’s latest release is the perfectly curated sound to jumpstart the fall feels.
