On the last Saturday of July, The Getty Center added a new chapter to its iconic Los Angeles presence with the grand opening of Trellis Bar & Lounge—a vibrant, outdoor retreat blending artful ambiance, playful design, and curated cocktails into one unforgettable experience, welcoming guests into the new establishment with a performance from burgeoning Honduran-American pop princess, Empress Of, as part of Getty's ongoing outdoor concert series Off the 405.

Nestled near the Museum Entrance Hall, the Trellis feels like a living extension of The Getty’s architectural elegance, but with a refreshing modern twist. The terrace is adorned with its namesake lavender trellis, drenched in bursts of cobalt blue and sunny yellow, and accented with striped patterns that transform under the afternoon light. It’s a scene-stealer—equal parts European courtyard chic and California cool—inviting visitors to linger long after their gallery strolls.

Designed with both aesthetics and relaxation in mind, Trellis is more than just a bar; it’s an experience. The menu, crafted and managed by Bon Appétit, is a nod to the museum’s artistic spirit. Signature cocktails, like Monet’s Mojito—a luminous mix of white rum, St-Germain, mint, lime, and seltzer—deliver a painterly palette in a glass. For those abstaining from alcohol, the Irises mocktail (butterfly pea tea, lavender, lemon, and honey seltzer) channels Van Gogh’s palette in liquid form, shimmering in hues that rival the view of the Pacific from the terrace.

Trellis also serves a range of shareable bites fit for any palate: sliders, taquitos, tostadas, fries, and a thoughtful spread of vegetarian, vegan, and gluten-free options that turn a quick sip into an afternoon affair.

Open Tuesday through Sunday from 2 PM–6:30 PM (extended until 8:30 PM on Saturdays), Trellis is poised to become LA’s newest spot for golden-hour lounging, with no reservations required. The venue is perfect for an impromptu post-exhibit wind-down or a destination in itself. For those who know The Getty as a haven of world-class art, Trellis is its natural counterpart: an elevated space where culture meets leisure, and where Los Angeles’ best views come paired with a cocktail named after a master.

Next time you find yourself at The Getty, don’t just admire the art. Sip it.
