Artisanal. Anonymity. Tabi. Bianchetto. These are Maison Margiela’s codes. They are theirs, and now they are yours. It’s a lexicon—signifiers of process, philosophy, and a house that has long reveled in the art of redefinition. To know them is to begin to speak Margiela.
Maison Margiela released MaisonMargiela/Folders, a digital peek into the creative world of the luxury fashion house, accessible through their internal Dropbox folders. The contents of these folders, accessible via Maison Margiela’s website, will expand and evolve as we inch closer to the Maison’s Fall/Winter 2026 debut at Shanghai Fashion Week on April 1.

MaisonMargiela/Folders offers a look into the journey of creating some of Margiela’s most beloved and emblematic projects. It’s a view most people never get to see—the press releases, the project timelines, the moodboards, the archives—all the work that goes down behind the curtain to create something captivating.
This digital document exposé precedes a series of exhibitions across China this April. Hone in on Artisanal, Maison Margiela’s couture line at Creative Laboratory Exhibition in Shanghai, 2–6 April; discover the Maison’s Anonymity at Our History of Masks Exhibition in Beijing, 7–12 April; dig into Margiela’s viral Tabis at the Collectors Exhibition in Chengdu, 9–13 April; and understand the brand’s creative language via their overpainting technique at the Atelier Experience in Shenzhen, 11–12 April. Event registration opens March 10.

Maison Margiela’s mystique has held our attention for nearly 40 years. Now, we get a peek backstage. But is that any less mysterious, knowing how the sausage gets made? There’s only one way to find out.
