During Milan’s Fuorisalone 2026, Gucci’s creative director, Demna, curated an immersive gallery exhibit, Gucci Memoria. Presented by the House at Milan’s Chiostri di San Simpliciano, the exhibit reflects the century-long history of Gucci, which blossomed in Florence, Italy, and has since continued an everlasting legacy in luxury and fashion. The installations consist of a series of tapestries, a Flora motif-inspired garden, and interactive, customized vending machines displaying the epitomes of La Famiglia.

The 12 tapestry installations represent formative recollections and defining moments throughout Gucci’s history, beginning with its first Florentine workshop through the evolution and discovery of the House’s creative identity. The story depictions reflect the artistic contributions of the House’s previous Creative Directors, including Tom Ford, Frida Giannini, Alessandro Michele, and Sabato De Sarno, while culminating with the current visual identity under Demna. Each tapestry is unique yet collectively crafted through elements of color, composition, texture, and imagery, revealing stories composed of intricate figures and sceneries that reflect the transformations and rebirth of Gucci’s narrative.

The botanical garden installation displays an array of seasonal flowers inspired by the Flora motif, upholding the sprawling nature of the House and the steadiness of changing seasons. Additionally, showcased are custom-made vending machines, each dispensing beverages by the House’s café and cocktail bar, Gucci Giardino, in Florence’s Piazza della Signoria. Different personas, including Fashion Icon, Drama Queen, Super Incazzata, and Mega Pesantone, are displayed on each can at random, made to embody the distinct aspects of Gucci’s identity.

During Milan Design Week, a special selection of Flora motif-infused handbags and accessories, including the Giglio and Jackie 1961, was introduced as a pre-launch in a few selective stores on April 16. Later this week, the store on Via Montenapoleone will distribute bouquets arranged with florals from the botanical installation, aiming to expand the exhibit's identity and influence. Gucci “Memoria”, the Italian translation for “memory”, is a tribute to the ever-evolving successes of the House, and an ode to the industrious, archival roots that rest beneath it.
