[Elephante](https://www.instagram.com/iamtheelephante/?hl=en) continues to bless fans with nothing short of bangers, and his newest single is no different. Titled “High Water,” the song reels in his signature high-energy dance roots with a euphoric, atmospheric feel that brings the evolution of his sound to a whole new level. Paired with an equally powerful visual, “High Water” sees the Asian-American DJ, producer, singer, and songwriter performing the record literally underwater.
The visual also serves a metaphor for what it’s like to be going through mental struggles, everything from addiction to depression. You feel this incredible weight pressing down on you and you're drowning, but you try to pretend like everything’s okay. You keep trying to remember the times when you were flying, and that’s the only thing keeping you going.
Speaking on the record, Elephante states, “I struggled mentally and emotionally through the pandemic, but I came to the realization about what’s important to me creatively. It made me incredibly grateful for my opportunity to create. If I’m going to do it, I’m going to do it all the way. I’ll always be a music guy first, but I’m more ambitious than ever to create visual stories that flesh out the narratives I’m telling in my music.”
Fun fact, Elephante did all the underwater scenes without any special effects. No nose plugs or oxygen tanks, just 12 hours in a pool up and down. Talk about dedication, he was sick for 3 days after the shoot. But from the looks of it, the self-inflicted pain was worth it because the video is unlike anything we’ve ever seen.
