Amidst the whirlwind of taxis, ruffles, and Keith Haring’s spirit, Nicolas Ghesquière unveiled his Louis Vuitton Cruise 2027 collection. Returning to New York, he staged a dynamic collision of uptown polish and downtown nonchalance within the storied galleries of the Frick Collection. Capturing the city’s unique code-switching, Ghesquière spotlighted the duality of New York: satin boxer shorts, capri leggings paired with regal Elizabethan frilled collars, and blazers juxtaposed with high-top basketball shoes.
Throughout the show, Keith Haring’s influence was palpable—hand-printed motif leather jackets and bags in the colors of taxis and takeout containers. The opening look featured a model carrying a faded 1930s Louis Vuitton suitcase, Sharpie-tagged by Haring himself in 1980—fusing decades of Louis Vuitton heritage in a single gesture.

At the core of this collection was the American woman with European influences: ruffles above the bodice, lace, cut-out flowers, and a floral jacquard silk faille dress anchored by jersey and denim. Leather had a commanding presence, appearing in patchwork jackets, pants, mini skirts, blazers, and outerwear. Playful accessories—including boxing booties and monogrammed Louis Vuitton boxing gloves worn over the shoulders—a nod to the intersection of high fashion and athletics.
Blending centuries of style, Ghesquière merged Gilded Age references with ’80s graffiti art, creating a layered collection as dynamic as New York itself. A flurry of A-list guests—including Zendaya, Emma Stone, HoYeon, Cate Blanchett, Anne Hathaway, Emily Blunt, Misty Copeland, Amy Adams, Hannah Einbinder, and Ava DuVernay—looked on as the collection unfolded. Louis Vuitton Cruise 2027, an amalgamation of New York’s cultural and aesthetic dichotomies, explores the evolving relationship between different eras and identities.
