A hotel with a rich East Coast history, the building stands as a testament to its own history within the community. Having hosted an array of guests over the years, including John Steinbeck, Truman Capote, and Art Garfunkel, the hotel first opened in 1958 and became the first resort development in Sag Harbor. Its most recent renovation in Spring 2026 included a rebrand that reimagined the hotel completely, with pastels and nautical elements meticulously adorning both the interior and exterior, and under a new name: Faraway Sag Harbor opened its doors once again this June. The rebrand took inspiration from its own surroundings: maritime elements and history, as well as the Mediterranean leisure scene.
