As its name suggests, Barlume, meaning “glimmer” in Italian, has done exactly what it defined itself as and illuminated the Montauk nightlife this summer, seamlessly integrating itself into the Hamptons’ summer culture and lighting up the beach in its first three established months. Ending its summer run successfully, reflected by its vibrant nightlife scene bringing in selected music acts, it curated the season, ending it off with a performance from Austin Millz.

Set on 40,000 square feet of ground overlooking the Montauk harbor, the la dolce vita mantra lives on at Barlume Beach, sustained by the curation of a beach club based on Mediterranean-style living. Making the outside feel inside, with Natural light and textured materials like cork floors, custom oak furniture, and sailcloth taupes, guestrooms view the marina or gardens, and every chair or lounge area in the restaurant is designed to be able to view the water. 

The building's colors are meticulous to remind guests of the Mediterranean inspiration, with turquoise doors and yellow accents mixing chrome and brass; the architecture is ideal to suit the summer visitors looking for an Italian getaway. The space’s design incorporates elements of selection for interior that work simultaneously with the exterior: an enameled lavastone top in a deep verdigris hue imported from Europe, and an indoor-outdoor bar; the day can only smoothly blend into night. As the day transitions, the beach club has offered live music all weekend over the course of the summer. At atmosphere that subtly switches from day to night, the goal is to always curate an environment characterized by socialization. 

Barlume’s goal of creating a space made to mingle and enjoy shared company is visible throughout, with an all-day food and beverage menu made to share, and the cabanas fit with couches and lounging furniture; the hope is truly to beckon in the night, but never let the day end.
