Evalyn’s “A Quiet Life” Is a Pregnancy-Born Album Reshaping the Sound of Electro-Pop

Evalyn unveils “A Quiet Life,” a 13-track exploration of transformation, chaos, and vulnerability. Blending influences from Aphex Twin, ARCA, and Grimes, the project captures anxiety, nostalgia, and digital saturation while never losing its emotional core.

“A Quiet Life” marks Evalyn's most ambitious project yet. The record delves into the most vulnerable corners of existence, transforming them into music. Written during her first pregnancy, its 13 tracks mirror both the physical and psychological turbulence of transformation, spanning themes of anxiety, digital saturation, and the disorienting sense of losing oneself while creating new life.

A Quiet Life” channels the dissonant influences from Aphex Twin, ARCA, and Grimes, weaving a tense, fragmented atmosphere that pushes electro-pop’s boundaries. Amid the experimentation and chaos, Evalyn’s voice acts as an anchor, carrying vulnerability and magnetism through every track.

Take “The Feeling,” an instant jolt of energy with a chorus that lingers long after it ends. Recorded while Evalyn was six months pregnant, it’s a pop adrenaline rush built for movement. In Evalyn's words, "This song is really about being taken over by a feeling or a raw instinct, and we wanted to create that through movement. I was 6 months pregnant and crawling on the floor in heels and pink tights. I think that helped capture the chaos."

“Playstation” takes a darker, denser turn, capturing the monotony of being bedridden and drifting between video games and social media, a metaphor for digital-age stagnation. Made with longtime collaborators from the electronic vanguard, the track signals a bold new direction in Evalyn’s sound.

“Boys Girls” carries a nostalgic tone, weaving memories of past loves with the pull of social media. It also recalls the self-reflective storytelling that first drew fans to her breakout feature on Louis the Child’s “Fire” and later her 2018 debut, “Salvation.”

“We had so much fun working and reworking production until it felt like it hit right. I wanted to capture that feeling of Instagram stalking your ex-situationship and then spinning out a little,” Evalyn said.

“A Quiet Life” is an album that both disturbs and embraces, demanding close listening and reaffirming why the artist has conquered stages like Coachella and The Greek Theater. It's a sonic declaration about what it means to exist, to transform, and to carve out stillness amid the noise.
