The Hammer Museum teams up with Sotheby’s to present _Artists for the Hammer Museum_, an historic night which will see over 40 works from contemporary artists donated for public auction. Proceeds from the event will help the creation of the Artist Fund which will support the museums exhibition program and support emerging artists. The fund emerges from the museums $180 million capital campaign, a plan that includes a major renovation to the Hammer’s facility as well as an expansion of its endowment. Artworks available for the auction come from artists such as Ai Weiwei, whose work donned Flaunt Magazine’s _Double Standards_ issue, Ed Ruscha, Mark Bradford, Barbara Kruger, Mark Grotjahn, and Cindy Sherman, the iconic American photographer, among many others. “Artists are the heart of our institution,” says Ann Philbin, the Director of the Hammer Museum at UCLA. “The Hammer is proud to have shown many of these artists early in their careers, and we are delighted that their generosity will in turn support the work of generations of artists to come.” _Artists for the Hammer Museum_ takes place on from Wednesday 17 - Saturday 20 at the UTA Artist Space in Beverly Hills. 403 Foothill Rd Beverly Hills, CA 90210 * * * Images courtesy of the Artists
