 This New York Museum has one question for you: Is Fashion Modern? Along with all of the other significant antiquities displayed at the New York Museum of Modern Art a simple plain white tee will be added onto that list. Plans have been announced that an exhibition dedicated to relics of fashion, will mount the walls of the MoMA as early as December 2017. According to MoMA reps, the exhibition "_Items: Is Fashion Modern?"_ will explore the present, past, and future of 99 items—garments, accessories, and accoutrements—that have had a strong impact on history and society in the 20th and 21st centuries. The highly anticipated exhibit showcasing the collaboration of art and fashion will not be the first time that these two worlds have made visually aesthetic magic. The new exhibition will now be complied amongst a group of previous year compelling exhibitions that commemorate iconic style; including the Alexander McQueen exhibit featured at the Metropolitan Museum of Art, and “Iris in Paris,” a fashion exhibition at the Parisian department store Le Bon Marché Rive. Visitors can expect the walls of the second floor contemporary space decked out in wardrobe driven pieces that include notable designs by the likes of Levi’s 501s, the Casio watch, and the Little Black Dress. The institutions senior curator of the Department of Architecture and Design, Paola Antonelli had this to say about the new exhibition in a recent blog entry on the MoMA’s website— "Historically, the museum has deliberately chosen not to engage with fashion in its galleries or its repositories, wary of those most anti-modern terms with which it is often derided: ephemeral, seasonal, faddish."
