One of NYC’s finest artists, [MarriDon,](https://www.instagram.com/marridon1link/?hl=en) flaunts his expertise with artistry and his craft in what he might be considered his major big “Boom” banger. With everybody getting ready for an icy winter, MarriDon’s “Boom Fiesta” single is lighting these streets on fire right now. The melodic song has a constant aspect to it as well, one of those songs you have to throw back on once it ends — especially being under 2 minutes.
While developing his place in the industry, MarriDon has expanded beyond just being a typical rapper. “Boom Fiesta” has layers of vocals that are as authentic as can be. Showcasing his art and lyrical craft while developing lyrics that come directly from the life he lives.
MarriDon caught up with Flaunt to talk about his journey thus far, and the road he took to get his first banger, “Boom Fiesta,” made.
**How old were you when you were first introduced to music?** I was about 4 years old when I noticed my family playing music around me, old harmony and old town reggae music. Then as I got older, I listened to a lot of Usher and Mario. Overall, a lot was of ladies' man type of music. It helped me become more musically attuned and permanently submerged in it... the piece ended up being where I needed to be.
**Where did you get the name, “Boom Fiesta”?**
I see “Boom Fiesta” like the name itself: it’s the biggest booming song to take over the world. From now to next year to the year after that, I’m 100% confident this song will transcend ages. I originally got my melody for “Boom Fiesta” from Elephant Man’s original riddim, “Jamaica Jamaica” the song. My song is a banger with a wavy vibe that you can chill with a lady or meditate.
**On “Boom Fiesta,” you’re singing the hook correct?**
Yeah, that’s me singing. Generally speaking, I wouldn’t say I like the labels they give artists. I see myself more as an expression than a rapper or a singer. I’m also trying to make this a relative idea in the music community. Me singing is more of me being myself than anything else, I’m more comfortable singing than rapping.
**Do you write your lyrics? Does writing your songs help you in any way?**
Yessir, that’s all me. Touching back on being an expressor, I enjoy freestyling more than writing. Music in general brings joy and love to my family and me. It brings peace because it’s a significant source of finance for my life. Creating has helped me with family losses, and I feel that those same people still hear me. My music transcends to the heavens because I’m chilling and not going crazy making fake music, I am as for real as can be.
**What is the most significant and current influence on your music?**
My primary influence is my audience's ability to make music a sort of hood therapy for everyone going through it. As long as I can uplift my listeners' spirit, mind, and energy at all times, then I'm personally feeling better in general too.
**Why should someone that doesn’t know you tune into MarriDon?**
You guys need to know me because I'm going to be remembered, my lifestyle should be Televised and everybody will enjoy everything I got going on. People will dance and get lit to “Boom Fiesta” everywhere: hospital, airplane, it doesn’t matter. You don’t want to be the person missing out.
