Flaunt alum [Jon Rafman](https://flaunt.com/content/art/jon-rafman?rq=rafman) has been collecting screen shots from Google Street view from around the world since 2008: _Nine Eyes of Google Street View._ A selection from the series—16 images organized into a slideshow—is currently presented by Sprueth Magers in a virtual exhibition. .
Rafman’s practice is rooted in a multimedia exploration of digital technologies and the communities they create. His manner of curation is precise, with a range of locations and times, oscillating from haunting to ethereal, and typically return to familiar Rafman tropes: alienation, nostalgia, loneliness and grief.

To accompany this presentation of “Nine Eyes of Google Street View”, the gallery has commissioned novelist Ned Beauman for an accompanying text piece, “The Slowdown.” Beauman offers an abstract exploration into a future devoid of time. In combination with Rafman’s imagery, the results elicit a contemplative navigation of digital landscapes, and beneficial or not, the innate human desire to find connection.
