Signed to Nettwerk Records, the enigmatic yet vulnerable songwriter delivers defiant ferocity through smoky vocals that shift between fragile and forceful on her forthcoming sophomore EP _ANTIHERO_ (out April 16).
All the way from Australia, [Jaguar Jonze](https://www.instagram.com/jaguarjonze/) (aka Deena Lynch) is carving her own lane in the music industry, with her own sound and style. With a diverse culture upbringing, the rising star continues to straddle the realms of music, art, and fashion. As part of the Christian Louboutin FW20 Cube Collection, Deena was commissioned to create a live art installation and [concept film](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E9-k4tTVyhM), which she directs and fronts. Not only did she create all that, but she also styled, designed and art directed each concept and decided to learn French during quarantine to compose the music. The collaboration embraces all aspects of Deena’s artistry, including her narrative illustration project [Spectator Jonze](https://www.instagram.com/spectatorjonze/?hl=en) and her gender-subverting photo-project [Dusky Jonze](https://www.instagram.com/duskyjonze/?hl=en)_._
The singer, songwriter, producer, and multimedia artist arrives with her smooth, sultry voice layered over slinging guitar lines and eclectic production with the new Jaguar Jonze single titled “ASTRONAUT.” Penning the record years ago, Deena has actually been sitting on the record in fear of letting it go into the world. Serving as her first exploration into her anxiety to her fans, it wasn’t until she was in the hospital with COVID-19 that she had the time to revisit and perfect the song.
With the visual, Deena explores the antiheroes within each one of us. She explains, “Specifically, the ones that exist within me. I'm not infallible, I’m imperfect, I’m neither hero nor villain. I have many things to learn, and I have learned many things. I waiver along a scale of strong and weak, indestructible, and vulnerable.” The music video for “ASTRONAUT” is the latest clip in a 5-part concept series for each song on the EP, including already released videos for “[DEADALIVE](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SMIBPUwMrUg)” and “[MURDER](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZE-U_vK0fOQ).”
Over the summer, Deena reimagined Britney Spears’ “Toxic” delivered in solidarity with abused women after reigniting Australia’s #MeToo movement by calling out a well-known photographer. To that end, she’s been featured in _Reebok’s_ “Not Your Princess” campaign, to celebrate her positive impact on the music industry. Much of the _ANTIHERO_ EP is driven by this resolve.
Given the vulnerability in the record, Deena just hopes listeners are able to connect and understand what anxiety can feel like—even when it seems like nothing has happened and nothing else is around.
