In the spirit of Halloween, horror streaming service Shudder released a six part anthology film, HORROR NOIRE, a series of stories written and directed by black creatives and a follow up to the 2019 documentary, Horror Noire: A History of Black Horror. In a genre that often ignores black voices, rarely featuring non-white leads or directors, Shudder is emphasizing the importance of centering black artists within horror filmmaking.

The film follows six stories, titled Daddy, Bride Before You, Brand of Evil, The Lake, Sundown and Fugue State, showcased consecutively as a two-hour film with appearances by Lesley-Ann Brandt, Luke James, Erica Ash, Peter Stormare, and more. The film was produced by Swirl Films with consulting by Dr. Robin R. Means Coleman, who is the author of the renowned book, Horror Noire: Blacks in American Horror Films from the 1890s to Present. Credited writers in the film include husband-and-wife duo Tananarive Due and Steven Barnes, as well as Ezra Claytan Daniels, Victor LaValle, Shernold Edwards, and Al Letson.

Shudder enlisted Mark Clennon to photograph six Black influencers in portraits inspired by the anthology film. HORROR NOIRE is available on Shudder within the AMC+ bundle, and will air on AMC at a later date.
