Coming out of this approach and mindset is Eric Gorton of The Gorton Group. From the start, Gorton’s motive has been to provide quality real estate services with the client at the center. His success has not been easy. Gorton worked in a casino; however, 9/11 dealt the hospitality industry a blow, and Gorton needed to get out. He also worked in sales selling specialty maintenance products, and as a janitor at the school his wife taught at and his kids went to. In 2001, Gorton was diagnosed with cancer, which brought with it some of the darkest days in his life. Gorton thought about his kids, one was five and the other was two, and how they would remember him only as a dice dealer. This pushed Gorton to look into other avenues, and the uncertainty of life was what encouraged him to get up and start looking. That same year he received his real estate license and changed his life. In his first year alone, he did more than 30 transactions as a buyers agent exclusively. Since then, Gorton has been recognized in the top 1% of the gross sales volume of agents in Las Vegas. Gorton’s business is fully customer-service-driven. Because of that, he has built a solid reputation, and his education and experience in real estate far exceed over 95% of the agents today. Gorton has been with Simply Vegas for 8 years and has always been recognized on the top five realtors list in gross value. In 2019, Gorton achieved the number one position on this list. However, these successes have not been easy. Gorton’s approach means understanding and recognizing his client’s needs. It’s not always a joyous reason to sell or buy a home , some instances include clients that are dealing with death or sickness in their family that has driven them to sell or buy a new property. Compassion is what sets Gorton apart from other agents and this genuine care is what turns Gorton from a real estate agent to a genuine friend. Gorton’s human approach has led him to be the person he is today. According to him, this also comes from the experiences he has seen throughout his life. Gorton’s mother was a big influence to him. She worked her way up to becoming Nancy Reagan’s personal secretary for almost a decade. People like her and Gorton’s wife exposed him to the true value of life: the people that surround you. The absence of Gorton’s father and the incredible support of his mother and wife led him to pursue the people-oriented business model he strongly believes in today. When Gorton works with his clients, it’s not just about real estate; he forms a lasting bond that translates into life long friendships.
