The brand was founded by model Sedona Legge, who launched the brand upon her inspiration from several famous fashion houses, becoming impassioned by creation. Every jewelry piece is customized to fit each unique body, crafted by hand. Chained by Sedona recently worked on a [cover](https://www.whowhatwear.com/phoebe-bridgers-interview/slide5) feature with Phoebe Bridgers for WhoWhatWear, where the rising artist wore a Chained by Sedona [amphitrite cape](https://chainedbysedona.com/products/amphitrite-cape). _Flaunt_ had the opportunity to chat with founder Sedona Legge about her process of creating each distinctive beaded piece, specific inspiration from iconic fashion houses, and themes that she draws upon in her creation. * * * **What specifically sparked your idea to create custom beaded pieces?** I think that several factors were in play here. I wanted to make my wardrobe speak to my personality and sense of style, and I just happened to be the mood model for a Tom Ford collection. They were gracious enough to include me in vintage shopping. It was fascinating to watch the creative process so intimately and it stimulated and inspired me. **What is the process for creating each custom-made piece?** Bead and chain selection is the first step, and then I need to decide what part of the body the piece will represent. Once I determine this, I begin creating with a very general idea in mind. I find that as I bead and place the pieces on mannikins, my creative instincts take over. I don’t sketch, I let the design come out through this method. Sometimes this process leads to mistakes, or takes me on a totally different path, so I am constantly adjusting. **How do you decide which materials to use for each beaded piece?** I have some wonderful vendors in DTLA and it’s really a matter of what is available and what dazzles me when I visit the shops. If I am creating a custom piece for a particular client, we will have a color scheme in mind and that will influence what materials I select. **What do you think beaded pieces add to the world of fashion?** They are a unique expression of personality and style that can be added to any existing outfit to change the look, mood, and influence the impact of the fit. Beaded jewelry has made a significant contribution to fashion throughout the ages, and in all cultures. It has signified tribal affiliation, represented good luck, warded off evil spirits, and implied power and status. **What stylistic themes do they draw upon?** Traditionally, chains can represent themes of bondage and submission. Drawing upon this and creating a mystical softness with the colors and hues, and combining it with the chains, creates a balance between beauty and power. I like to say my brand symbolizes what it would look like if fairies were into bondage. **What fashion houses did you draw inspiration from and how?** Gucci was undeniably an inspiration for me having been in several their campaigns and runway shows. I think the colors, textures, and design genius of Alessandro Michele is so remarkable to be exposed to. This exposure influenced me significantly. The Tom Ford team taught me the specifics of the design process as they created designs on my body. Lee McQueen was my original fashion love before I began modelling or designing. I was raised in Australia and would dream of walking the McQueen runway. And I’m still dreaming! \_NIK0325.jpg ![_NIK0325.jpg](https://images.squarespace-cdn.com/content/v1/56c346b607eaa09d9189a870/1620157147344-5BPT1S9RMNPNJ3FTVHY3/_NIK0325.jpg) \_NIK0140.jpg ![_NIK0140.jpg](https://images.squarespace-cdn.com/content/v1/56c346b607eaa09d9189a870/1620672387345-1WQIEOY4M5ZO5FHGUER5/_NIK0140.jpg) \_NIK0831B&W.jpg ![_NIK0831B&W.jpg](https://images.squarespace-cdn.com/content/v1/56c346b607eaa09d9189a870/1620672401072-OOK8AK1OST4F7INHLH9V/_NIK0831B%26W.jpg) \_NIK9956.jpg ![_NIK9956.jpg](https://images.squarespace-cdn.com/content/v1/56c346b607eaa09d9189a870/1620672416477-29O2G52B14I9ALLR9HGE/_NIK9956.jpg) Model & Designer: [Sedona Legge](https://www.instagram.com/sedonalegge/) in [Chained by Sedona](https://www.instagram.com/chainedbysedona/) Photographer: [Mark Squires](https://www.instagram.com/marksquires_studio/) Makeup: [Karina Moore](https://www.instagram.com/karinamoore/) Hair: [Lisa Marie Powell](https://www.instagram.com/sheardeath/)
