In Saint Laurent’s Spring/Summer 2027 Men’s Collection, Anthony Vaccarello pokes and prods at seduction, presenting a wardrobe in defiance of the qualities our culture most often uses to define it. The guiding principle is desire devoid of desperation, as Vaccarello deigns to reject the statutes of our starved attention economy, where maximizing speed, sight, and sound is rewarded, and the arts of subtlety and restraint are obsolete. Inspired by masters of this very art, including Marguerite Duras, Tina Chow, and the fictional Mr. Ripley, Vaccarello exhibits the profound pleasure of leaning into the unsaid, unseen, and unknown.

Across 40 looks, ranging from three-button jackets and softly pleated trousers to classical waistcoats and ribbed V-neck sweaters, the collection embodies an aesthetic discernment of temperance. As Vaccarello boils desire down to its basics, he does the same with each piece, selecting foundational gold ornamentation and simple, sheer, high-gloss footwear to anchor them. Grounded in muted blacks, beiges, and browns, with pops of ochre, lime, powder blue, and orange, the collection’s compositions and color palette embody its central sentiment — the delight of moderation.
Set in a misty Cloud #07156 — installed by Fujiko Nakaya — the models emerge, disappear, and reappear, becoming instruments, artists, and subjects themselves. Vaccarello reminds us of the sensuality in withholding and the romance in waiting, challenging our aesthetic, artistic, and personal sensibilities and delivering a masterclass in the art of restraint.
