Athleticism and art are seldom held in the same regard. Ideas of "either/or" separate the two when they should, in fact, be united. On Wednesday evening, Casa Degli Artisti elevated this idea by transforming itself from an opulent art center into a dojo of the arts as MCM celebrates its Spring/Summer 2026 Collection during Milan Fashion Week. Inspired by the art of Taekwondo, the collection perfectly balances ideas of unwavering strength and delicate precision, which are key themes in the discipline.

While it may be surprising that a rigorous sport is turned into luxury items, MCM has often strived to capture the idea of motion and shape it into something elegantly tangible. Dirk Schönberger, Chief Brand Officer, states the following, “I am happy to be back at Milan Fashion Week with a collection that explores movement—not just physical, but cultural and emotional. Inspired by the discipline and flow of Taekwondo, we looked at how motion shapes identity. The result is a dialogue between tradition and innovation, where every piece reflects balance, respect, and dynamism.”

In attendance were the chairperson of MCM, Sung-Joo Kim, as well as other notable stars, including Ice Spice, Mariama Diallo, Bach Buquen, Jannis Danner, and Chiara Biasi. Malik Lindo even gave the pleasure of spinning a few tracks for the event. While stars populated the event, an exhibition titled  MCM: THE ART OF MOTION was erected to give stage to the collection, showcasing how the body and its garments strike a harmonious balance while maintaining their own forms. The exhibition featured holographic installations that showcase the art of movement. AI models performed refined Poomsae as loose fabrics danced along and against the body. Each action transforms the garments into different belts, jackets, and blazers that showcase the versatility of this year’s collection.

As all enjoyed celebrating this newest collection, there will be much more to celebrate in 2026 as MCM prepares for its 50th anniversary.
