The life of a pop star is, perhaps, perfectly incomprehensible. One can try, but likely fail, to imagine its immense complexities—the perversity of paparazzi lights, the anxiety before a sold-out stadium, the weight of each caption or story. One wrong move? Commercial collapse. One right move? A BRAT summer. A lot of pressure is on the line. That’s why on an illustrious Halloween night in Los Angeles, one can’t blame the contemporary pop star for wanting to blow off a little steam.

On October 31, 2026, DJ and producer The Dare hosted a “Freakquencies” — a star-studded dance party at The Hollywood Roosevelt. With a little help from fellow pop icons Tinashe, Kim Petras, and Frost Children, socialites and maîtres of the discotheque bumped and grinded with one another late into the witching hours of a spooky twilight, ornamented in an eclectic tableau of creative costumes. As our popstar pharmacist for the evening, Tinashe’s hyperpop set performed alongside The Dare remained melatonin-free, prescribing guests with a much-needed dose of energy and fun. Other friends of The Dare who performed were Ky Newman, Kenny Beats, Dorian Electra, and Evilgiane. Cocktails flowed. Conversation cascaded. With a crowd of influencers and everyday Joe’s alike, it was a party swept away by the collective agreement to let loose.
All in all, when the vampiric occasion arises, it is evident that the city of angels revels in being a city of pop stars who, no matter the pressing realities of fame, sleeplessly smile and turn to the levity of a dancefloor as a space that evokes what is most human to us. That is, dancing.
