A sense of relief that slowly dissolves the need for perfection, expressed with effortless ease, is the lingering feeling left by Master Peace’s new single, “Fuck It Up.”
Created in collaboration with Declan McKenna, the fusion between both artists, while seemingly unlikely at first glance, feels remarkably precise, like chocolate and sea salt. It brings together McKenna’s psychedelic indie sensibility with the lyrical realism and punk energy that define Peace Okezie, the force behind a creative project determined to carve out space in the music industry without sacrificing its identity.
What truly anchors the track’s impact is the message running through every verse. “Fuck It Up” proposes a conscious rejection of the idea of constant correctness. It speaks to making mistakes, failing out loud, and allowing oneself to be imperfect without guilt.
“‘Fuck It Up’ was me embracing my flaws and wanting to let kids know they don’t need to feel ashamed or embarrassed about messing up and that we’re all in it together,” Peace explains. “We’re all fuck-ups in one way or another. This idea that everyone has to be perfect, that we’re not allowed to grow and learn, just isn’t human to me. We’re constantly evolving, and I wanted to get across that it’s okay to get it wrong sometimes.”
The single serves as a gateway to “Stupid Kids,” Master Peace’s upcoming EP, set to arrive on February 27 across all digital platforms. The project presents itself as an honest, original, and bold statement, unafraid to blend styles that few would dare combine within the same musical formula.
From his earliest releases, Master Peace has moved through a world of contrasts. He grew up between British indie and grime culture, between quiet suburbs and tougher realities, and between brightly lit stages and a personal history shaped by the feeling of never fully belonging.
Master Peace had already laid out a strong, uncompromising path with his debut album, “How To Make A Master Peace” (2024), which earned him key industry recognition, including the Ivor Novello Award for Rising Star, along with praise from influential voices such as Zane Lowe and platforms like MTV Push. These achievements were followed by high-profile performances and a growing international presence that culminated in his first North American headline tour.
2026 is shaping up to be a year of expansion for the Peace Okezie. He has plans for new tours and collaborations, all guided by the creative freedom that defines him as an independent gem within an industry where many are still bound by external rules just to make art.
“Fuck It Up” is a song, a preview, and a statement of principles. It is also an entry point into “Stupid Kids,” a project that brings together key names in contemporary music, such as producer Dan Carey, and connects with initiatives like There’s No More Underground, spearheaded by Okezie, to offer affordable shows and free downloads, reaffirming his commitment to the independent scene and his roots.
