Like sunlight breaking through clouds, Leon Bridges injects an electric pulse into the air with his fifth studio album, Happiness Anytime. Set for release on September 25 via Columbia Records, the album is produced by J Lloyd-Watson and Lydia Kitto of the British trio Jungle. Marking a new chapter for Bridges, who has gradually introduced the album through pop-up performances in Paris, Cannes, Los Angeles, the Montreux Jazz Festival, London, and Chicago. The music is anchored in rhythm, dance, and freedom.

Opting to unveil the album in stages, Bridges is set to release three EPs—each containing four songs—to build anticipation for the full-length project. Most recently, he dropped his second EP, featuring the single “Talk It Over” (with an accompanying music video), the title track “Happiness Anytime,” “All Day All Night” (featuring Lydia Kitto), and “Fly Baby.” These new tracks join those from the first EP: “Light The Way,” “Tears of Joy,” “Illusion,” and “Your Love Is Electric.”

Commencing the album rollout, the Grammy winner has been debuting Leon Bridges Presents Happiness Anytime—a reimagined stage production inspired by Jamaican dance hall culture. The show features a vinyl DJ, a horn section, and three backing vocalists. Front and center is Bridges himself, who, after taking a more subdued role in his last release, now dances across the stage to the music. It’s a time warp—no cell phones or Instagram stories—just a return to the age of dance, inviting fans to come together and move.

The official music video for “Talk It Over,” directed by D+Y and choreographed by the Plue Agency, was filmed in Amsterdam. The video highlights the album’s central themes—movement, dancing, and joy—showcasing dancers who effortlessly groove in a spotlighted warehouse. Explaining his new direction, Bridges says, “For me, happiness is not a feeling that you chase. There’s this feeling that we have to fix the problems of the world; you feel inadequate, or it can be debilitating.”

Bridges is passionate about making his new album more than just music, explaining, “I want this album to be something that lingers with people and lingers in people's bones.” The guiding principle of Happiness Anytime encourages both the artist and listener to discover spontaneous joy and avoid anything contrived. Infused with Latin and African rhythms, the album is made for dancing and for shedding the mundane stresses of modern life. With Happiness Anytime, Leon Bridges aims to make joy a lifelong companion, stating, “My role is to be light. I hope that comes across with this album.”
