Iceland Airwaves will take place during the first weekend of November, for the twenty-seventh year since the festival’s birth in an airplane hangar in 1999. This week, the festival unveiled its third wave of artists set to perform, including Swedish pop visionary Cobrah, UK trio Alien Chicks, Canadian singer-songwriter Leith Ross, and Icelandic talents Spacestation, Una Torfa, and Sycamore Tree.

For three days and nights, Reykjavík comes alive with the sound of music, issuing from record stores, art museums, pubs, nightclubs, churches, and large-scale venues. The festival has become known for discovering emerging musicians, often featuring them early in their careers before they become established, bringing together a diverse composition of international talent.

The festival is promoted and produced by concert company Sena Live, in cooperation with the City of Reykjavík, and with support from Iceland’s premier national airline and founding sponsor, Icelandair.

For those too keen to wait, Iceland Airwaves will host two Taste of Iceland x Iceland Airwaves showcase events ahead of the festival: the first, on Sept. 10 in Colours, Hoxton in London, and the second, on Oct. 1 at Pianos in New York City.
