The natural world is a blueprint for artistry. The melding of colors, contrasting shapes, unique textures; it can all be found in nature, with the designer being Mother Earth herself. For the Fall/Winter 2026 Louis Vuitton collection, Nicolas Ghesquière, (Artistic Director of Women's Collections), envisions clothing as a modern structure shaped by the rhythms and forms of the earth. Mountains, forests, and other natural landscapes guide the designs, reflecting how early clothing of humankind emerged from instinctive responses to climate and terrain. The shapes and details of each piece echo natural forces like wind, rain, and sunlight, creating silhouettes that feel sculpted by the environment, and born from nature.

Nature also shapes the materials and decorative elements for this collection. Plants, animals, and earthy textures inspire fabrics and details throughout the garments. Animal patterns appear in canvas and denim, while leather flowers act as both decoration and subtle protection. Artistry and technology work together to reinterpret nature rather than imitate it. Techniques such as 3D printing and experimental resins create details resembling minerals or antlers, while plant-based furs introduce new textures. Leather is treated to resemble wood while remaining soft and flexible, blending realism with fantasy.

The show’s setting for the Fall/Winter collection extended this blurred reality vision. In the Cour carrée of the Musée du Louvre, production designer Jeremy Hindle transformed the courtyard into a surreal landscape. The space blended natural inspiration with a more sharp, modern aesthetic, turning the runway into a shifting scene that was part pastoral painting, part science-fiction story. Attendees included Zendaya, Lisa, Ana De Armas, Chase Infiniti, Alysa Liu, and many others. The pieces and atmosphere worked in tandem to display not just nostalgia for when nature ruled the world, but a possible future in which the modern digital age can blend respectfully, seamlessly, with nature. This collection goes as far back to fashion’s roots as it possibly can, in the literal sense as well as the historical sense, and brings sensitivity that is both humble to, and harmonious with, the natural world’s power and beauty.
