Final fit check in my DTLA hotel.  I made the dress myself using two vintage McQueen Scarves that are held together by one knot in the back and 5 safety pins.

Music thumping. Bass booming. Individuals coming together to form one writhing mass of moving bodies, spirits running high, and feeling a sense of connection. This is what Skyline Festival has to offer. A place to listen, to dance, and at least on this particular weekend, to revel in the promise of encroaching springtime. Held in the arts district adjacent the banks of the Los Angeles River on the last weekend of February, Skyline Festival boasted a star-studded lineup and an unbelievably energetic crowd, all undulating to the world's highest frequency techno in the industrial Angeleno railyards.

This year, Berlin based rising star, DJ Gigola took the stage in front of a crowd of thousands—many of them eager fans, many others soon-to-be converts. Gigola, part of Berlin based techno collective Live From Earth, delivered on all expectations tenfold: as the sun set over the concrete bridge, Gigola took control, with a set punctuated with pyrotechnics and, of course, suffused high-energy that vivified even the most lethargic of crowds.

DJ Gigola is known for her genre-fluid, undefinable mix of techno, pop, trance, and percussive sounds. There is a particularly playful sense that she imbues in her work that has led her to astronomic rise in the past couple of years, paying careful attention to artistry while still using the lens that, after all, techno should be fun.

See here, an inside look into Skyline Festival, from the perspective of none other than DJ Gigola herself, and shot by Tyler Matthew Oyer.

Me updating the music pre-show
3 beautiful people at Skyline and me
Hydration station before the show. I am obsessed with wedge heels at the moment and I am happy I found these vintage Chanel ones recently on Ebay.
Another beautiful persona at Skyline. We saw each other last year at CRSSD and at a small event in LA. I feel very grateful for the consistent support and to meet my community in person. It just makes me happy to see familiar faces again and again.
Saying hi to Sedef who I simply adore as a DJ and as a human.
DJ POV: look at the amazing view from the booth. The people, the 6th Street Bridge, the sunset—this was when I started my set. I felt very lucky with my playtime because through my whole set I could see the sky constantly changing from gold to pink to  purple to midnight blue to starry and black. How beautiful is that?
Me at work—this was probably around mid-set. You can tell from my face how much I enjoyed playing
Golden hour mid-set.
Pyro and me.
About the end of my set. As you can see, I really enjoyed everything about my Skyline set.
