Hoping on the trend of sportswear turned streetwear, Adidas Originals partnered with Mexican-American fashion designer Willy Chavarria on their latest drop for Spring/Summer 2025. The celebration for this collaboration took place this week at the Adidas Melrose store with plenty of guest appearances and vendors to highlight L.A.’s Chicano culture.

This event included vendors such as Leo’s Tacos, Paleteria el Paraiso, and even tattoo artist Sal Preciado, inking some of the guests. Some notable attendees include Edison Chen, Xochitl Gomez, and Skyy Clark. Photographed by Carlos Jaramillo, a Mexican-American L.A. native, this event and campaign encompassed one of the most culturally rich parts of Los Angeles. The togetherness and self-celebration shown in the images from the event are exactly what Chavarria aims to encompass in his work.

Heavily inspired by the Mexican-American experience, Chavarria is known to favor the storytelling of his clothes, his heritage, and inspiring his community to do the same. With some of his staple pieces leaning more toward streetwear, such as the Chicano Sweatshirt and Wide Leg Trackpant, Adidas revives these styles in this collection, adding its signature sportswear flair.

This being a collaboration with Adidas Originals, versus their mother brand Adidas, most of the styles in this collection have a casual fit to them and have been staples of Adidas’ brand in the past. Respecting the value and demand of old-school styles is a perfect pairing for someone like Chavarria. This collection has a clear nostalgia and retro emphasis to it that complements both the brands of Adidas and Chavarria. This collection is available now in limited stores, and the second drop will be arriving on July 10, 2025.
