LA-based English producer Chris Barratt AKA Eagles & Butterflies recently played Coachella back to back with RY X.  Lately he has been working on remixes for Bob Moses, Florence & The Machine and an EP on Life and Death, with his next release landing on his own imprint,  Art Imitating Life. He also scored his first release on Dixon & Âme's InnervisionsImitations Of Life. He can be seen playing Innervisions' debut showcase LA on May 18 with Dixon & Âme, and Trikk.

I moved to LA from Ibiza almost 5 years ago now, I fell in love with California pretty much from the day I arrived, I always wanted to surf but being English the options were a little restricted so making up for it now!

I wake up at 7am during the week while I’m at home and head straight to my favourite coffee shop for a cream cheese bagel to get the day moving!

Everyday is studio day for me, it's the thing in life I love more than anything else and pretty much all I ever want to when Im home. I had a studio for the last few years and moved the beach around a year ago and decided to have everything in my apartment as it over looks the ocean which is something I've always wanted and I couldn’t be happier. Some find this weird but every week i move my studio to a different spot in my apartment, sometimes I work standing up, something sitting down, even on my floor!

I actually spend the majority of my time making records outside on my balcony, I record all the synths and drum parts then go outside and work on the track, you cant beat the California sunsets!

At the end of each afternoon, around 5/6 I’ll bounce what I have done that day and either walk or ride up to Manhattan Beach listening to it, after having it on repeat for 90 minutes i normally know if it’s a keeper or just stays in my iTunes with the other 100 records!

Showtime, this picture is from my recent show at Coachella playing B2B with my brother RY X, always an amazing festival to play and especially with RY.

Pretty much all of my arrangements are actually done in my bed! I don’t use any headphone or speakers just the laptop and this works perfect for me, for me every aspect of making music has to be done in the environment you feel the most comfortable, Sketch 17 from my last Innervisions EP I actually my made on a plane with IPod headphones, and that’s the final version that was released, I didn’t change it in any way!
