Jelani Aryeh transformed from athlete to musician after a hip injury, but his transition is seamless. His new single, “Gloss,” is a mesmerizing track that allows his voice and message to resonate with the listener. He mixes his voice with smooth beats that melts into a melodic and sensual sound. In regards to his new song Aryeh notes, “Gloss is really just me stating what I want for my future self and yearning for those moments of pure happiness and clarity. No one can deter you from that state because in it, you know exactly who you are and what you’re suppose to do here.”
Aryeh is a native of San Diego and is curious about his fascination with London, England. He states, “I don’t know why but I feel so called to London - that it’s a place where I can live my purpose out to its fullest. I haven’t even been out of the country before, but I’ve felt this strong pull to the UK ever since elementary. Everything I’ve read, watched and heard about it has drawn me towards it more and more. Most definitely a future home, even if it’s for a short period of time.”
Aryeh’s influences include Brockhampton and Rex Orange County, and although his sound has a familiar Khalid direction, he is surely making his own path in the lo-fi RnB genre.
