Meet one of NYC’s hottest DJs, [Quiana Parks](https://www.instagram.com/quianaparks/?hl=en). After being diagnosed with cancer at only 19, Parks found a medium to express herself through art. When she’s not DJing gigs for Nike or spinning at a Vogue party, she’s also a contemporary artist, putting her feelings onto canvas.
Parks’ work has recently been shown at [Art Basel Miami Beach](https://www.artbasel.com/miami-beach) and will be featured in the upcoming season of Spike Lee and Netflix’s _She’s Gotta Have It_.
In addition to her practice as Painter and DJ, Parks is also a philanthropist. After her personal battle with cancer, she wanted to give back to those who are currently still fighting the disease by creating [**DJ for A Cure**](https://www.facebook.com/DJForACure/) - a non profit organization with the mission of raising awareness about blood cancer in the African American community. Here is her weekend recall:

First stop before hitting Art Basel! I’m DJing at Marrow For The People a charity event for blood disease.

Starting off Miami Art Basel the right way DJing for Teavana’s The Art Of Flavor in Wynwood Art District.

Who goes to Miami and doesn’t go to the beach???

Quick outfit change to link up with DJ Vashtie to see Lil Wayne perform at The Surf Lodge Miami pop-up.

Day 2 of Art Basel, stopped by the Nike Seeding Suite to preview the new Yoon Ambush x Nike collection.

Getting ready to do a live painting at Everyday Ppl!

Focused! Doing a live painting in the middle of Art Basel – pressure but no pressure. I’m an artist by day and a DJ by night!
