Since her debut album _Hukam_, South Asian-American vocalist, sitarist, producer, and composer Ami Dang has pushed the boundaries of trance, ambient, and electronic music. Her upcoming album, _Parted Plains,_ from LEAVING Records, drops August 2nd. In anticipation for the album’s release, Dang is embarking on an expansive West Coast tour with Kendra Amalie. _Parted Plains_ draws inspiration South Asian and Middle Eastern folktales to create new stories that are neither Eastern or Western, not traditional or contemporary. Since Dang's debut album, _Hukam,_ released back in 2011, the multi-genre multi-instrumentalist has garnered critical acclaim and admiration from artists like Grimes, who invited Dang to accompany her on her 2013 tour in Asia. Dang has shared bills with a variety of artists from a variety of genres, including Future Islands, Chairlift, A Hawk and A Hacksaw, Ariel Pink's Haunted Graffiti, Beach House, Wye Oak, Lil B, Bonnie Prince Billy, and Dan Deacon.
