Just last week, major electronic music institution, Cercle, debuted its first U.S. live show in collaboration with renowned electronic producer Paul Kalkbrenner. Originally hailing from Germany, Kalkbrenner is known for live-mixing and rearranging his tracks on stage, and before this last week, he had not performed in Los Angeles in eleven years. With him being a staple in the electronic music community, this collaboration along with the new rendition of Cercle events, makes for an exciting turning point in live electronic music.

Cercle Odyssey, the new sector of Cercle, introduces live performance in a whole new context, placing the performance and audience in an otherwise extraordinary location, often with some sort of cultural or visual significance. With Los Angeles being the latest location, local electronic music connoisseurs were lucky enough to experience this 360-degree immersive installation made from canvas screens that surrounded Kalkbrenner. This places the performer in the center of this man-made cube, giving every one of the audience members an equal view. This style of stage arrangement has become wildly popular, especially in the electronic music community, as it gives the audience the freedom to move around and a new perspective with every step taken.

The stage installations, coupled with the visuals and graphics projected onto the canvas screens, made for an ethereal and immersive experience for the attendees. This performance also comes in anticipation of Kalkbrenner’s new release, coming to Cercle Records this summer.
