It’s been quite a week for White Reaper, the Louisville, Kentucky fivesome whose songs sound ready-made for a future arena headlining tour.
After releasing their sophomore record _The World’s Best American Band_ back in 2017, the album title, which initially seemed tongue-in-cheek, suddenly read more like a prophecy. The release garnered almost universal praise from bloggers and critics alike, with some hailing it as one of the best rock n’ roll releases of the year. They made their triumphant return by releasing _You Deserve Love,_ their first record under their freshly joined Elektra umbrella.
The album charts through rock’s most touched upon subjects including doubt, dislocation, and elusive and complicated love. It incorporates smart, thoughtful lyrics crafted by lead man Tony Esposito with soaring power-pop guitar riffs reminiscent of bands such as Cheap Trick and Thin Lizzy. Its what an American muscle car would sound like if it were melted down into a song.

Gearing up for a fall tour whose itinerary includes them traveling across the country, the band started their trek at Los Angeles’s Teragram Ballroom this past Saturday (10-19) for their album release party. Playing in front of a sold-out crowd, Esposito admitted that this was their first time headlining a show in Los Angeles. Drawing from the contagious energy their music emanates, the group cycled through tracks from their first two albums while also testing out several new songs from their latest offering. This might’ve been their first headline show in LA but it certainly won’t be their last.
