Sam Smith Returns With 'Too Good At Goodbyes,' a Track Inspired by a Recent Heartbreak

by Flaunt Intern

Sam Smith has been fairly quiet ever since dropping and riding on the success of his debut album In the Lonely Hour, which dropped in 2014. Now, Sam Smith is back and continues to be vulnerable in his music with his new single "Too Good at Goodbyes." The track flaunts his powerful vocals and aims to connect with many of his listeners who've no doubt dealt with heartbreak and splits.

“This song is — I’ll be very open about it — it’s about a relationship I was in in 2016," he said on Amazon Music Unlimited's "Side By Side Experience.  "I basically got dumped about three times. And on the third time that everything ended, I had got so good at walking out the door that I kind of knew what to do, and I had a tick box in front of me of all the things I would do to get over this person. So I was basically getting really good at being dumped. Very sad, very truthful but I feel like it’s empowering. When I’m sad and confess things, that I believe is brave."
