Coming from the last decade of various music projects such Classixx, Flaunt premieres Los Angeles-based artist Michael David’s single, “Onewish,” who, later this month, will present an eclectic sonic dive into his own sound with upcoming EP, _Melona_. Originally with an exclusive vinyl release through the UK label Is It Balearic?, _Melona_ will be available on streaming platforms from a full release with Cascine April 24th.
With an innate sensitivity and untethered ethereal nature, David moves through the EP inviting abstracted ways of giving space to enjoy the tide of instrumental oscillation. The complexity of layered chimes, organic wooden drums, and curated high frequency dreamy beats cultivates in actuality room to breath, room for simplicity. When listening, one can feel his inspiration of Hawaii come through with an unending ease that pours over like endless waves.
There is a nostalgic realm from the approachability to tones that draws one in like a familiar conversation. An homage or a homecoming? This EP is the antidote for the feelings of unpopulated streets and uncertain hearts. It wistfully approaches us and lifts us to a plateau of joy and presence where we can feel freely, accept, dance, and let go.
