[Lowell Ryan Projects](https://www.lowellryanprojects.com) presents the opening of _They Laughed With Pleasure_ the new exhibit by [Xavier Schipani](https://www.xavierschipani.com/about). When asked about the exhibit Schipani expressed: “They Laughed With Pleasure is inspired by the diaries of a gay trans male writer named Lou Sullivan called We Both Laughed In Pleasure. I will never forget the first time I read his work, I felt seen, validated and alive.”
The exhibit touches upon Lou Sullivan’s message that there is a major lack of trans role models out there, and Schipani believes as queer artists it’s important to tell the stories of our community. Stories from the past, present, and envision a brighter future. This is Schipani’s first solo exhibit with Lowell Ryan Projects, and the exhibit includes four new large-scale murals, acrylic paintings on canvas, and layered work on sheets of plexiglass.
