In celebration of annual [World’s Ocean Day](https://worldoceanday.org), a day of increasing significance as our climate and earth changes, the brand has launched a new timepiece—the DIVER Lemon Shark, a high end piece made specifically or functionality in deep depths of the ocean. In a rise of threats to underwater and aquatic habitats, Ulysse Nardin is among the few finding ways to contribute to conservation as best they can. Ulysse Nardin has committed and pledged an environmental focus in accordance with international guidelines—a promise with goals to be achieved by 2030. The company further emphasized that their focus during this time would centralize on the deeply misunderstood and endangered marine life family, sharks. unnamed-1.png ![unnamed-1.png](https://cdn.prod.website-files.com/62ee0bbe0c783a903ecc0ddb/6472d509810810c785bdd2f1_unnamed-1.png) A part of the company’s DIVER collection, this limited edition 43 mm piece is one of the first their new shark conservation focus. This new product is a shade of, fittingly, black and shark grey, stamped on the back with three lemon sharks. The strap of the watch, which features discreet stitching, is created from recycled fishing nets. The subtle touches of yellow around the watch all pay homage to the Lemon Shark. Meant for both functionality and elegance, the piece is sleek and simplistic and withstanding of ocean conditions. As Ulysse Nardin is the supplier to many Navies, the quality of its ability to withstand the sea is of little surprise. The launch is in partnership with organizations [OCEARCH](https://www.ocearch.org/tracker/) and the [FIU Medina Aquarius Program](https://environment.fiu.edu/aquarius/), both of acclaimed oceanic conservation efforts. image001 (1).png ![image001 (1).png](https://cdn.prod.website-files.com/62ee0bbe0c783a903ecc0ddb/6472d509810810c785bdd2ed_image001%2B%25281%2529.png) As for the lemon shark, a deeply misunderstood creature, it is unquestionably worthy of a timepiece dedication. Able to camouflage themselves into the washed out yellow of the sea floor, the species is one of a kind. Like many of the most progressive and intelligent creatures on earth, the lemon sharks are assumed to have the ability to form bonds and genuinely learn from others in the species. The creature has been recorded as living as deep as 300 feet below the ocean surface, hence the deep dive focus of this limited edition watch. With the magnificent and well-studied species nearing a threatened level, as classified by the IUCN Red List, awareness is more important than ever. “Sharks are largely misjudged to be dangerous to humans, which are not their natural prey,” said Patrick Pruniaux CEO of Ulysse Nardin. “We and OCEARCH believe in education. The more informed the public has about these magnificent creatures, the more they will respect their place in the natural hierarchy of the oceans.” This socially conscious and luxurious product is truly a limited edition, with only 300 pieces available.
