At 18 years, Keemo Kazi is a young spirit fuelled by the passion of a resilient dreamer. Known for his pranks and skits on TikTok, Keemo has over 20 million followers on TikTok. He has also recently released his debut album, Keemo VS. Kazi. Passionate about music, Keemo notes he has always enjoyed listening to rap music. Growing up, he would often find himself writing down some lyrics whenever he was alone. Joining Tik Tok, when there was a lot of uncertainty and fear across the globe due to the Covid-19 pandemic, Keemo chose to do something different that would help with everyone’s stress. While he was still writing music on the side, Keemo started making TikTok videos of him pranking his family. Even though it all started as a mischievous joke on his parents, Keemo came to love the comic world and even started doing small skits on TikTok. Overwhelmed by the love and support from his fan base and family, he began posting videos regularly. This year, he made his comeback in the music industry by releasing six songs in six months, which have been enthusiastically received. Determined to keep his fan base entertained, he recently released his album before the buzz around the songs faded. Speaking about his debut album, Keemo VS. Kazi, Keemo explains how the name came about. “Keemo is the prankster; he is the mastermind behind all the pranks,” says Keemo, “On the other hand, Kazi is the rap star, making the album a combination of the two characters.” The album was released on August 13 and consists of ten songs packed with high-energy and a unique vibe. While it was released just a few days ago, the album has already garnered close to one million views. Like most industries, the creative and music industry is competitive. With so many talented musicians, winning over the audience is challenging. Among the traits that make Keemo stand out is being unapologetically himself. Unafraid to showcase his abilities, Keemo creates authentic and creative content. Additionally, he released freestyle Fridays, where he either freestyles rap or does an impromptu prank or skit. Keemo explains this is where he gets to prank people randomly, having not thought out the prank. With the demand for high-quality videos not only in music but on other platforms like TikTok, quality has become a key factor. In addition, people want to see content that is appealing and easy to vibe along to. Even though he has established his spot, Keemo continues to produce quality content. He is also consistent in his posting, making sure to post content regularly. Gaining over 20 million followers and millions of likes, Keemo followed his dreams, and through action and self-belief, he has made his dreams a reality.
